It is a great honour and a joy for me to welcome you to the 48th edition of the International Folklore Festival “Ciudad de Burgos”, an event which, after almost half a century of history, continues to be a cultural reference and a privileged space for dialogue among peoples through their traditions.

During these days, Burgos will once again become a meeting point where music, dance, song and traditional costumes will bring us closer to different cultures from around the world. Each participating group will share with us a part of its identity, reminding us that cultural diversity is one of humanity’s greatest treasures.

​

This new edition reaffirms the commitment of Burgos and its Festival to the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage, fostering respect, coexistence and understanding among people of different nationalities and generations. Thanks to the efforts of the Committee, the City Council, our collaborating companies, volunteers and, especially, the participating groups, this festival continues to grow and establish itself as an essential event on the cultural calendar of our city.

I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to all those who make this project possible and, in particular, to the people of Burgos and to all those who visit us, whose enthusiasm and support are the true driving force behind each edition.

I invite you all to fully enjoy this 48th edition of the International Folklore Festival “Ciudad de Burgos”, to discover new experiences and to share the emotion that arises when peoples come together through their traditions. On this occasion, we also have the opportunity to discover cultures and countries that have never before appeared on our stage, such as the island of Guam, Madagascar and Slovakia, who will be joined by Venezuela, so present in our hearts during these days, Senegal, Chile, Türkiye, and the joyful traditions of the Region of Murcia.
