FOLKLORE COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF BURGOS

Its purposes are:

• To foster appreciation and sensitivity for all folkloric values within society.

• To contribute to the conservation, development, and dissemination of folklore and traditional culture in all its forms and aspects.

• To cultivate feelings of friendship and mutual understanding, as well as bonds of brotherhood and international cooperation among all participants in folklore festivals and folkloric gatherings.

• To contribute to the improvement of mutual exchanges of information concerning both national and international folklore groups.

• To maintain close relationships of friendship and collaboration, whenever possible, with all folklore festivals worldwide and entities dedicated to traditional culture.

• To encourage the exchange of ideas in a climate of tolerance that promotes world peace and understanding among all countries.

• To promote and encourage cultural volunteerism in its activities.

• To promote and encourage youth participation in its activities.

• To collect, preserve, transmit, and maintain our intangible cultural heritage in all its forms and manifestations, as a body of knowledge and techniques passed down from generation to generation.

 

To achieve its purposes, it carries out the following activities:

• Organizing folklore festivals, gatherings, and competitions.

• Overseeing and assisting in the better organization and selection of folklore groups.

• Staying in contact with festivals, organizations, and folklore groups to facilitate coordinated exchanges with them.

• Establishing agreements and collaborations with public and private institutions to achieve the stated purposes.

• Organizing exhibitions, conferences, seminars, and meetings related to traditional culture, as well as any activities necessary and conducive to achieving its purposes.
